Training for missions and the world
Do you have a heart for adventure and serving the unreached? Do you feel called to be a part of the ever expanding YWAM ships ministry? The School of Navigation and Seamanship (SONS) is designed to help you do just that by giving you a solid foundation of being a godly seafarers to serve on-board ministry vessels worldwide.
Why the SONS course?
The aim of the SONS is to equip you with the basic knowledge and skills to help you become qualified crew in order to serve God and bless the needy through YWAM Ships or walk out Christ in the maritime industry. YWAM vessels need both qualified seafarers and passionate missionaries to meet the great task before us; take the Good News to all people. Come on-board and join us for deep discipleship, sailing around the Aegean Sea, and start your jounrey to YWAM ships or super yachts.
The three month course was spent surrounded by an amazing group of people and under an amazing group of leadership who cared both about my spiritual growth and discipleship, and my course studies. Not really any better way to do maritime training in my opinion. Sailing and making God known in such a beautiful place, with some beautiful people is something I would not pass up.

The journey of discipleship with YWAM starts with the Discipleship Training School (DTS). The aim of the DTS is to better discover God's call and meaning on your life. It opens the door to further training through the University of the Nations and in ministry partnered with YWAM. The opportunities, both in YWAM and beyond, are endless! Once you have completed your DTS, prayerfully consider returning to further your experience, sea-time, training, and qualifications by joining Crew. You will be amazed at where God can take you, and we’d love to help you get there!
