m/v Pacific Hope Global announces their acquisition of t/v Next Wave – relocating from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean

YWAM’s 42-metre sail training vessel t/v Next Wave (pictured right) will soon relocate to the Caribbean Sea under new ownership. She is being bought by Pacific Hope Global, a YWAM sister organization, who are currently providing aid in the Bahamas with their disaster relief ship m/v Pacific Hope (pictured below).

When the COVID-19 pandemic comes under control with borders opening again, t/v Next Wave will sail through the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic Ocean to her new home in the Caribbean. Current plans are to start a ministry with a Divemaster Discipleship Training School (DTS) on board in early 2021. This will provide students with the opportunity to grow in their knowledge of Jesus whilst gaining skills and experience toward professional Divemaster qualifications.

t/v Next Wave has served in Europe since March 2007, sailing as far north as Norway, west as Ireland, east as Ukraine, south as Tunisia, and all through the Mediterranean. She has run YWAM Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) every year, pioneered and run Schools of Navigation and Seamanship, as well as hosting a School of Evangelism and Bible School. Additionally, she has regularly hosted teams on outreach from across the world.

When the Greek refugee crisis started in October 2015, she was re-deployed to Greece to serve. Since February 2016, she has been based on the island of Lesvos, until civil disorder forced her to move to Turkey at the beginning of March 2020. At present, she is undergoing a refit in Turkey to prepare for the long sail across the Atlantic and her future ministry.

We look forward to a partnership and adventure with Pacific Hope Global as they welcome t/v Next Wave to their family of ministries. As we work with Pacific Hope Global in the coming weeks to prepare for the transition, we will keep you up-to-date with details and developments along the way!

We continue to pray for the world as we face lockdown in so many countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. The delivery voyage may have been delayed, but we continue to prepare for the transfer, to the best of our ability.
