Update on YWAM Next Wave – 12 May 2020

Despite a bleak global crisis, we must remember that we are a ‘People of Hope’ who carry a hope filled message of a gracious God who loves His beautiful creation. We need to celebrate that hope and continue to take it to those who have lost much; such as after natural disasters and those that live in fear. So, considering all measures to keep people safe and planning for restrictions to continue, we have pressed ahead with our commitment to move t/v Next Wave, spread the gospel of Christ, disciple the next generation and celebrate the wonders around us.

We pray you have all kept safe and are coping with this global pandemic which we also pray will leave us soon.  Since we last wrote to you in March with an update, t/s Next Wave has been in dry-dock in Turkey undergoing an extensive refit.  Despite COVID-19 limitations, work has continued in the shipyard and we hope to have her back in the water by the end of May.

You can view progress film clips on the refit via: https://www.facebook.com/ywamnextwave/

We hope to start re-crewing early June, as COVID-19 restrictions on travel will allow. Therefore, all our plans are held lightly, though they are coming together, with crew standing by to join.

The ‘delivery crew’ will sail this 42 metre sail training vessel from Turkey to the Caribbean through this summer, so she is in place for our exciting new DTS.

From 1st October 2020 we will host a new Dive Master Discipleship Training School (DTS) onboard and applications are now open: https://ywamnextwave.org/training/divemaster-dts/

This is an amazing opportunity to sail the Caribbean on this magnificent large ketch, learn to dive and gain professional certification. At the same time, allowing participants to go deeper in their relationship with God, readying them to serve on our medical relief vessels wherever the need is most. Despite the hopelessness around at present, we urge you to either sign up for this adventure or support others or the ministry, so they can.

Join us in praying for a swift end to the present crisis and continuation of the ministry,

Captain Brian G Sloan
